Anthony Family to release first full-length album “Live From an Ordinary Place” on August 1st 2025

Anthony Family Live From an Ordinary Place coverAfter the breakout success of the debut EP “101 North”, Anthony Family — the new project from Anthony Anzaldo, best known for his work with Ceremony — announces their first full-length album, “Live From an Ordinary Place”, set for release on August 1st, 2025, via Pure Noise Records.

To celebrate the announcement of the new album Anthony Family have released a double video of singles new single “Your Dress on Me” and previously released single “Sex in the Car”.

“Your Dress on Me” follows, a fractal of nuances regarding sex and gender. Speaking about the single Anthony said: “I want to dance in every room. I want to hear every song that colors outside the lines. I want to get stuck under every moon. I want to take a different route home. I want to see your dress… on me”.

Anzaldo considers “Sex in the Car” to be a companion piece to “Your Dress on Me”. “I had these both done and written and compartmentalized separately for the longest time”, he reflects. “It was such a joy when I was able to finally crack that code and figure out that they were linked — sonically, musically, thematically”.

The album itself is something in which Anthony Family embraces his synaesthesia and can see each track as color and describes the album across a vivid spectrum.

“Soulless is soft teal. ‘101 North’ is bright black. ‘Your Dress on Me’ is DNA burgandy. ‘Sex in the Car’; diamond yellow. ‘(thirtyseven)’; transparent. ‘Fine From a Distance’; overcast seafoam. ‘Overmorrow’, grayish red. ‘Nothing Something Everything Onemorething’; pastel cream. ‘Wander With Me’; elderberry. I often hear in color. For me, that’s Ordinary”.

Pre-order & pre-save “Live From an Ordinary Place” here.

Tracklist:
1. Soulless
2. 101 North
3. Your Dress on Me
4. Sex in the Car
5. (thirtyseven)
6. Fine From a Distance
7. Overmorrow
8. Nothing Something Everything Onemorething
9. Wander With me

In tracing Anthony Family’s DNA, if you were to point to Howard Jones, Prefab Sprout, or Yazoo, you’d be on the right track. Ditto the Blue Nile, Scritti Politti — or his all-time hero, Prince. (“I think about him every day in my life”, Anzaldo says of the Purple One. “It’s so beyond that, He doesn’t even consciously register as an influence”.

Anzaldo has been writing Anthony Family for years; he had a nascent blueprint for the album in mind for almost a decade. He recorded it over the span of a year, whenever he was able to get in a studio — “until I felt like I had a cohesive body of work that was reflecting where I’m at and how I feel”.

Which harkens back to Anzaldo’s core dictum making music: “What do I want from this song? What does this song want from me? What do I want you to feel when you hear this song?”, he says. “And will that feeling be conveyed best through full band, synth, guitar, everything? Would that feeling be best with just meeting guitar? Or would that feeling be best over the span of seven minutes with a lot of space, you know?”…

“The process for every tune is different; getting to the destination is always different”. And it’s that destination that matters: the station of the human heart, and Anzaldo’s beats deeper than most. Meet the family.
