Grey Mountain to release self-titled debut album on March 7th 2025

Grey Mountain self-titled debut albumNew Trans-Atlantic Metal Project Grey Mountain (feat. members of Monsterworks, Bull Elephant, Construct of Lethe, Black Harvest) will release their self-titled debut album on March 7th, 2025, via Eat Lead and Die Music.

Grey Mountain is the result of a collaboration between Jon Higgs (guitar & vocals; also of Thūn, Moose Cult) and Kishor Haulenbeek (guitars, bass, vocals; also of Black Harvest, Construct of Lethe, In Human Form), rounded out by Jon’s long suffering brother-in-arms and intrepid adventurer, James Garnett (drums; also of Monsterworks). The band’s sound is difficult to pin down; running the gamut of traditional heavy metal, through death and doom, with post-metal and discordant influences.

Higgs says about the collaboration: “I got to know Kishor through metalforum.com and first reached out to hire him to paint a cover for Bull Elephant’s third album. At some point in 2023, knowing he played bass for Heavy Meta, I tentatively asked if he would be interested in laying down bass for a bunch of tracks I had in mind to record with James as a side project. He said yes, but went further and expressed a keenness to contribute a song and maybe add a few ‘melodic guitars’. Little did I know that when he tackled these guitar melodies – which contrary to his modest description are full blown guitar-hero leads in many cases – it impacted the music in a big way… and then he went ahead and added extra vocals too! I am all about collaboration, and Kishor has taken things in directions I would never have thought of. Couple that with James’ relatively rocky but hard hitting approach on drums (beautifully recorded by Jamie Masters at Echo Studios close to homebase in Buckinghamshire) and I think we’ve come up with something pretty unique. We’ve got a second album planned already”.

With artwork by Kishor and mixed by Jon Higgs, Grey Mountain is a real in-house effort…. although a final polish was applied by Dan Swanö at Unisound, known for his dynamic mastering.

The eponymous opening track is streaming now below.

The album with be available digitally on Bandcamp (including 24-bit full dynamic range vinyl master in side A/B format) and at new platform Ampwall.
