Paradise Lost European Tour 2023 posterIn 1993 Paradise Lost released their gothic metal masterpiece “Icon”, an album that defined the genre and made them one of the best metal bands the UK has ever produced.

To celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary, the gothic metal legends have announced details of their Embers of Europe Tour for December this year. The band have also revealed details of a very special vinyl reissue of “Icon” to coincide with these dates.

Released on December 1st, 2023, the album has been totally re-recorded by the band and will also feature brand new artwork. Once again working with long time collaborator and producer Jaime Gomez Arellano, the band re-recorded the vocals and drums for “Icon” at his new studio Arda Recorders in Porto, Portugal. The rest of the album was completed at Greg Mackintosh’s Black Planet Studios.

Nick Holmes explains: “Our specific record deal around the time we signed for the ‘Icon’ album meant we would never actually own the rights to our music or artwork, so going forward, to reissue the album ourselves for the 30th anniversary, it was necessary to re-record and completely re-do the album cover.

Re-recording ‘Icon’ has not only enabled us to release it as a series of collectors editions on vinyl but it was also great to revisit some songs from a lifetime ago. Nothing can replace those original recordings or ever will, they are a nostalgic part of all our lives but it has been a lot of fun revisiting those early MFN days once again, and I hope the end result displays that”!

“Icon” can be pre-ordered now. Exclusive vinyl, ticket and t-shirt bundles are also available here.

Special guests for the UK dates in London and Bradford are fellow West Yorkshire doom pioneers My Dying Bride. After forming in Bradford in 1990, this will mark the first time they have played the city in many years, whilst Paradise Lost who originally started out in Halifax last performed in Bradford in 2005.
