Today, New York based indie rock band Red Vox is proud to announce their sixth full length studio album, “Retcon”, due out on January 30th, 2026. To celebrate the announcement, the band offers fans a glimpse of the upcoming release with their new single “Over a Life”. The new track arrives accompanied by a music video, available to view below.
About the new single, Red Vox vocalist Vin comments:
“‘Over A Life’ is one of the most recent songs we’ve recorded; we played it live before it even had a name and finished lyrics. It’s a pretty rocking song, but there’s definitely a lot of meaning in the lyrics, some from experience, some from observation, and some from reading Norm MacDonald’s autobiography. Seriously”.

Their music video for “Garbage Land” recently landed at #54 on Rate Your Music’s Best Music Videos of 2024, while the second half of their fifth album, “Visions and Afterthoughts”, became a Bandcamp bestseller in 2023, following the first half in 2022.
Across their catalog, the band has earned millions of streams, led by the breakout single “In the Garden”, and nearly 8,000 physical album sales. Their live presence has only amplified that rise, from a packed 600-person crowd at Too Many Games 2024 to nearly 1,500 fans filling the room at Super MAGfest 2025, with more piling into White Eagle Hall for a career-spanning set. With decades of collective stage experience and a sound that shifts seamlessly between grunge, psychedelia, and synth-rock, Red Vox continue to cultivate a dedicated, ever-growing community eager to follow them wherever “Retcon” and their next musical explorations lead.
Vin shares:
“As far as albums go, ‘Retcon’ has had several retcons. We had a 16 song album originally, but cut five of them and recorded two more to better fit the theme and overall vibe. Ironically, it’s an album about not being able to change the past, to some extent at least. There’s also a fairly dystopian thread running throughout the album as well. Musically, it’s pretty varied. The first song was something I wrote 20 years ago, and as such sounds pretty grungy. There’s also electronic vibes, acoustic and mandolin infused sounds, aggressive loud rock and hints of psychedelic rock. As our sixth full-length album, we’re pretty proud of it, as it sounds like us but also some other version of us that we retconned into existence I guess”.

Spanning three songs from the upcoming album “Retcon”, players can explore the strange world within the screen, meet its inhabitants, and help them. Along the way, fans can collect Red Vox records and discover a selection of 15+ additional songs from across the band’s history, each presented in its own unique environment. The game also features a RED VOX track exclusive to this experience, plus hidden secrets for those willing to fully explore.
