Reliquiae gestrichen coverOn May 13th, 2022, Reliquiae will release “gestrichen”, their most extraordinary album to date, via Metalville Records.

In the course of Reliquiae’s 10th anniversary, a very special retrospective of the band’s work to date was to be created. The last studio album “Babylon” already contained an additional version, “Scheintod”, as an arrangement for string quartet.

Reliquiae took this as an opportunity to select eleven songs from all previous albums, in whose new arrangements Bastus’ voice is carried by a string quartet. In this way, completely new sound images come to the fore, which have never been heard before in the original version. The interplay of vocals and string sounds creates a special atmosphere.

The arrangements were written by Svea Elderthal, who also recorded the two violin and viola parts. For the cello part, Reliquiae collaborated with Stella-Lucia, a long-time friend of Svea’s from their time together in the orchestra.

With this album, the listener is accompanied on a journey from the familiar to a new world of sound: delicate to brute string sounds, a wide space for the vocals. Plus a special feature with Chris Harms from Lord Of The Lost.

“gestrichen” combines the past with visions for the future – Reliquiae pure and unadulterated.
