Saltwound to release debut full-length album “The Temptation of Pain” on November 1st 2024

Saltwound The Temptation of Pain coverFollowing their recent signing to SharpTone Records, Northern Californian deathcore juggernauts Saltwound have announced their long-awaited, debut full-length album, “The Temptation of Pain”, will be released on November 1st, 2024.

Saltwound’s debut is a colossal beast, seething with furious brutality that roars to life with the most ferocious riffs metalcore fans will hear this year. Featuring tracks like the previously released single “Hollow”, “The Temptation of Pain” rears its head with intense chaos as elements from deathcore and metalcore collide in a violent explosion of sound.

Today, the band reveals the record’s second single, “Severance”, which features guest Nick Chance of Distinguisher and is accompanied by the turbulent music video below.

Commenting on the song’s message, vocalist Spencer Timmons says:
“It’s my wish to separate myself from the world in a macro and micro sense. In my personal life and what I see going on, it’s nothing but pain, misery, and things I can’t stand. So, you want to be set free and separated from this darkness. I love music more than anything, but so much of this industry repulses me”.

Sporting a hunger bordering on bloodlust, Saltwound uncompromisingly pursue progression at all costs. The Sacramento, CA band – Spencer Timmons [vocals], Shawn Williams [guitar], and Marty Delgado [bass] – deftly tame a chaotic hybrid of deathcore and metalcore with earthquaking grooves and insidious melodies, proudly dubbed “Norcal Violence”.

Buzzing with millions of streams, they continue to fearlessly level up on their 2024 full-length debut for SharpTone Records, “The Temptation of Pain”.

“With every release, we try to create something that sounds different from what we’ve done in the past”, notes Spencer. “We never want to be a one-trick pony. It’s easy to find a niche and suck the well dry. We’re trying to evolve though. I think we achieved that with this album”.

During 2020, the musicians initiated this perpetual forward motion. “Vol. 1: (Dead)Weight EP introduced their inimitable intensity to the masses. The title track “(Dead)Weight” amassed over 1.6 million Spotify streams followed by “Assault // Split Lip” with 516K Spotify streams. The momentum only picked up with “Vol. 2: Despair” [2022] and “In the Shadow of the Valley of Death” [2023]. Along the way, they shared the stage with everyone from Maylene and the Sons of Disaster and Islander to Bleeding Through, Ov Sulfur, Attila, Gideon, and Impending Doom.

During late 2023, the guys hunkered down and assembled what would become “The Temptation of Pain”. This time around, the group intentionally streamlined the process by adopting “a communal approach to writing” with all of the members actively contributing. Moreover, a core theme underscored much of the lyrical content.

“To me, ‘Temptation’ is more like attraction”, he reveals. “As a culture and a society, we’re attracted to things that hurt us and cause us pain. Negativity gets more ‘clicks’. These aren’t positive things that uplift our lives, but we gravitate to them. It applies to my personal life. Being in a band is hard, so why don’t I put my effort into going back to school and getting a safe nine-to-five job? It’s because I’m attracted to what causes me stress. The same goes for relationships. So, every song touches on an element of being drawn to what causes hurt and pain”.
