The Magus ΒΥΣΣΟΔΟΜΩΝΤΑΣ coverThe Greek veterans of The Magus have announced their debut album “ΒΥΣΣΟΔΟΜΩΝΤΑΣ”, which will be released on October 31st, 2023, via The Circle Music Records.

The cover artwork was created by Harnasash Singh.

The Magus comments on the album: “Harnasash’s art once again gave visual life to my hellish visions. His cover art fits perfectly to the album concept which is based on Lucifer’s disappointment and wrath upon mankind. I can only say that is the most organic album I ever made guiding all my black metal influences to a truly horrific, nightmarish path.

Dark melodies unite with feverish worlds to give birth to majestic, aristocratic horrors. We had the pleasure to work with artists like King Dude, IDVex (1/2 Southern North) and Hel Pyre (W.E.B.) as guest vocalists in order to enhance the atmosphere and the ritualistic parts of the music. It is also the first time in my musical journey where I used live choir arranged by Christos Antoniou (Septic Flesh). And to finalize, recordings take place at Pentagram studio with the infamous George Emmanuel (Lucifer’s Child) behind the mixing table and the production.

More to come, stay in tune with the Depths… Like Serpents from the Depths we rise”!

In celebration, The Magus are now kicking off the pre-order for the album’s very limited edition boxset (strictly limited to 130 copies).

The Magus comments on boxset: “As you can see we have decided to already open the pre-order for the Limited Box FIRST before any other format. This was my personal decision, because the release is special to me for a couple of reasons. Not only is the exclusive artwork an esoteric reinterpretation of the ‘Serptagram’ done by none other than Zbigniew M. Bielak, the painting on the canvas, depicting the Arch Angel Lucifer in Byzantine hagiography style, is done by the renowned comic artist Malk Giamalakis Nikos! Both of these great artists are fans of Necromantia’s music and it was a huge honor to work with the both of them. Last, but certainly not least; this box is also strictly limited to 130 copies! I want to give the option to our true disciples to be able to get this first before anything else”!

Pre-orders are now available here.

Tracklist:
1. This is My Church
2. The Fall of Man
3. ux Tenebrarum
4. ΒΥΣΣΟΔΟΜΩΝΤΑΣ
5. Idolatrous Discord
6. Ama Lilith
7. Negative Renaissance

9. Give the Devil his due: The story

About the album, The Magus continues:
“I can only say that is the most organic album I ever made guiding all my black metal influences to a truly horrific, nightmarish path. And to finalize, the recordings took place at Pentagram studio with the infamous George Emmanuel (Lucifer’s Child) behind the mixing table and the production. Like Serpents from the Depths we rise”!

Hailing back to 1989, Greek black metal outfit Necromantia was founded by the two musicians Baron Blood (bass) and The Magus (vocals, guitars, keyboards). The band’s music was characterized by a mix of black metal and death metal, with elements of Greek folk music and classical music. Over the years, Necromantia had undergone several line-up changes, but the band continued to release albums and tour, becoming one of the most respected and influential black metal bands from Greece!

Following the tragic death of Baron Blood in 2019, The Magus decided to disband Necromantia by releasing their final album “To the Depths We Descend” in 2021. But The Magus’ personal musical and mystical journey did not stop here. The inner black flame, which urges The Magus to create dark and extreme art which is expressed through music and lyrics, never ceased to burn.

In the summer of 2022, The Magus decided to give birth to a new musical project, entitled simply and appropriately; The Magus. Joined by long-time associates, El (Soulskinner, Zaratus, Thou Art Lord, Principality of Hell etc.) on guitars and Maelstrom (Necromantia, Yoth Iria, Thou Art Lord, Principality of Hell) on drums in order to complete the formula and start working on material for the upcoming album to be released later this year!

Line-up:
The Magus: Bass/Voices
El: Guitars
Maelstrom: Drums

Album credits:
Recorded and produced: George Emmanuel at Pentagram studio, Athens
Mix & master: George Emmanuel
Cover: Harnasash Singh
