Those Damn Crows UK Tour 2025 posterPremier league Welsh rock squad Those Damn Crows are just days away from finally dropping their highly anticipated fourth album, “God Shaped Hole”, due out on April 11th, 2025, via Earache Records.

Packed full of certified bangers, with huge choruses and evocative lyrics, the band have whipped out one more single from the LP to tide fans over. “The Night Train” is released today and includes a bit of everything that makes Those Damn Crows so great, from its beautiful melody and wistful inspiration to its enduring refrain.

Frontman Shane Greenhall has this to say about the song: “Having had an extremely powerful and vivid dream where I visited my Father, and relatives who have passed away, It really felt like I had travelled somewhere else, to a different time/place rather than a dream.

It inspired me to write ‘The Night Train’ – the transport that takes you to your loved ones who are no longer with us. The train takes you to their new home where you’re temporarily invited and reunited with your loved ones for a short time, at the same time, every single night like a grieving Groundhog Day. Your destination is one dream away”.

The single’s official video is more unusual for the group, as it is entirely animated. The band worked with noted animator Marco Pavone.

Shane comments: “I’ve always wanted an animated video to tell the story of a Crows song. ‘TNT’ was the perfect fit and song for doing so. When I storyboarded the idea to Marco (our animator) he absolutely nailed the brief. It almost feels like a bedtime story but the dream world is a place we visit every night. Imagination, manifestation is a gift and ‘TNT’ is surely something we would all grab with both hands if we could get the chance to be with our loved ones again who have crossed”.

Watch the video for “The Night Train” below.

What separates Those Damn Crows from so many other bands is the beating emotional heart at the centre of their music. “God Shaped Hole” reaffirms the band’s place at rock’s top table. It marries music fueled by power, passion, and melody to an intelligence and emotional honesty that’s increasingly rare these days. Like all the best music, “God Shaped Hole” comes from the heart and the head.

Even by their standards, “God Shaped Hole” – recorded with longtime producer Dan Weller – covers a lot of musical bases while still retaining Those Damn Crows’ unique identity.

Anthemic opening track “Dancing with the Enemy” and the electrifying “Let’s Go Psycho!” (released as a single before their triumphant main stage performance at 2024’s Download Festival) are guaranteed crowd-starters, while the supremely melodic “Dreaming” would sound perfect spilling from an open-top convertible as it powers down the Pacific Coast Highway and the pummeling “Spit and Choke” crackles with punky energy. Elsewhere, “Fake” possesses an unexpected yet muscular waltz-like groove as it turns an eye on those who use social media to sell a distorted perception of their own lives, “No Surrender” is as defiant as its title suggests, “Glass Heart” is gleaming pop rock gem, and the soaring “The Night Train” possesses a beautifully restrained, folky edge.

“I almost feel like this is an album of singles”, describes Shane. “It’s like a playlist, it shows off the range of music we love more than any album we’ve done. There’s so many different flavours, but it’s all still recognisable as us”.
