Cassidy Paris is a young Australian rock singer who has been making waves in the melodic rock scene since her debut EP, “Broken Hearted”, in 2019. Cassidy has been releasing singles since 2017, and after her debut EP, it’s finally time for her first full-length album titled. Therefore, she collected a few of the previously released singles and combined them with some new tracks to release her debut album, “New Sensation”, via Frontiers Music, which is a huge step for any new artist or band out there. Moreover, Cassidy was fortunate enough to meet singer & songwriter Paul Laine (ex-Danger Danger, The Defiants) at a young age, and he took her under his wing and helped her develop as a musician and songwriter, collaborating with her on composing and producing her music.
The debut album features 11 tracks of catchy, upbeat, and energetic pop/rock songs, co-written and produced by the well-known Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge of Forever, Hardline, Revolution Saints, etc.), who also contributes on the keys, bass, guitars, and backing vocals. In addition, the album features contributions from the renowned Paul Laine (ex-Danger Danger, The Defiants), who co-wrote six songs and provided backing vocals on some tracks, as well as the guitarist Steve Janevski (The Radio Sun, Wicked Smile), guitarist Dave Graham (Wicked Smile) and the drummer Mirko De Maio (Mind Key). Not bad at all for a debut release by a promising newcomer, huh?!
Cassidy’s voice is powerful and wonderful… it kinda reminded me of the female rock singers who dominated the airwaves in the 80s and 90s. The music is rockin’, with various modern & pop elements. The production is modern, dynamic, and polished. Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge of Forever, Hardline, Revolution Saints, etc.) did the mixing & mastering.
Out of the 11 tracks, I’d say that my favorites are “Danger” (it has a Vixen vibe), “Rock ‘n’ Rock Hearts”, the power ballad “Here I Am”, “Walking of Fire”, “Song for the Broken Hearted”, “Searching for a Hero”, “Like I Never Loved You”, “Addicted”, and “Midnight Desire”.
“New Sensation” is a solid and impressive debut by a young and talented singer with a bright future ahead of her. Cassidy, the charismatic singer and songwriter, has created a fresh and entertaining album with a contemporary vibe. I think Cassidy has the potential to become a great female rock singer. However, she needs to develop her own musical identity and be willing to take on new risks and challenges. I hope she does that on her next album, and I look forward to hearing more from her in the future. All in all, her debut album is indeed a new sensation that deserves to be heard by everyone who enjoys modern melodic rock with a pop edge.
