Swedish power metal band Krilloan finally released their debut full-length album, “Emperor Rising” in late 2022. The band, consisting of Alex VanTrue on vocals, Klas Holmgren and Steve Brockmann on guitar, Marco Toba on bass, and Cristoph Brandes on drums, made their debut in the metal community with their 2021 EP, “Stories of Time Forgotten”, which gathered some really good reviews globally. The new release also features guest appearances from Matthias Graf (Evertale), Jack Reynolds (Bykürius, Battle Born) and Johan Karlsson (Evermore).
We instantly think of epic power metal music when we see a warrior with a sword in hand and a dragon in the background on their impressive cover artwork. Krilloan’s intentions are clear, since their songs are fast-paced, heavy, epic and filled with melodic choruses. The album is focused on classic fantasy themes. The songwriting is remarkable, displaying a high level of creativity and technique. The production is full and heavy in general.
“Emperor Rising” will appeal to the great majority of power metal fans that fancy fantasy and epic stories in particular. Krilloan possesses everything it takes to build a reputation for themselves in the power metal scene, which is mostly filled with mediocre bands. Of course, they have a long road ahead of them, but they have the potential to succeed in the end. With hard work and dedication, they can make it happen.
