2022 marks the band’s 10th anniversary since their formation and what a better way to celebrate with the release of their fourth studio album. Naxatras have come a long way round so as to be regarded as one of the top psychedelic rock bands of our time and that’s not an easy task to accomplish. Additionally, I’d say that Naxatras is not just your average psych rock band, as their psychedelic music has been embellished with space rock, melodic and 70s prog rock elements, creating an atmospheric music amalgam that can easily travel you to other spaces & dimensions. One can find several influences from bands like Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, Ozric Tentacles and Aphrodite’s Child among others.
The new album also features the new member Pantelis Kargas, who plays the keys and the synth that fills the overall sound and creates beautiful soundscapes along the way. So, this is the band’s first album as a quartet. Personally, I find this new member addition very crucial, as I fancy the sound of synth and keys a lot, as it can definitely add more depth to a band’s sound overall. Furthermore, “Journey to Narahmon” features guest vocals by Evi Seitanidou. Her amazing performance adds an emotional feeling to the song. Additionally the production is full and crystal clear on the whole. The album was recorded and mixed by Nikos Logiotatidis at Magnanimous Recording Studio, and mastered by Dave Collins.
“IV” will certainly aid Naxatras to enhance their reputation in the music scene. “IV” is not only their finest release to date, but also one of the best psychedelic rock albums of 2022. So, if you’re into this kind of music and you fancy psychedelic, atmospheric and space soundscapes, then look no further… “IV” has all that you need!
