New Horizon is a new and one of the many Frontiers Music projects, one can say. Now what will happen when you put together an amazing vocalist, Erik Grönwal (Skid Row), and a gifted multi-instrumentalist, Jona Tee (keyboards, guitars, bass) and songwriter? Erik used to be the vocalist in H.E.A.T and Jona is still their keyboardist… this might give the fans an idea of the material here, but apart from all the predictions, the guys decided to release a heavy/power metal album full of great melodies. Believe it or not “Gate of the Gods” puts down the majority of the heavy/power metal releases of 2022! Another thing that makes it more interesting is that these two guys are supposed not to be experts on this kind of music! That’s music’s grandeur though!
Of course, the album features some big guests like Robban Bäck (Mustasch, W.E.T., Gathering of Kings) on drums, Sam Totmanon (DragonForce) on lead guitar on “Fearless”, Sam Totman (Dynazty, Crowne) on lead guitar on “Stardust”, Dave Dalone (H.E.A.T) on lead guitar on “Stronger Than Steel”, Niko Vuorela (Temple Balls) on lead guitar on “Cry for Freedom”, “Call of the Underground” & “Fearless” and Laucha Figueroa on lead guitar on “We Unite”, “Event Horizon”, “The End of All” & “Gate of the Gods”. Needless to say, all the performances are amazing at large. Moreover, Jona has delivered a powerful and full production that makes the final outcome even more fascinating.
Let’s hope that this won’t be a “one album” project and that they will continue to make music… or even become actual band. No need to say more… if you’re into melodic heavy/power metal music, then “Gate of the Gods” is an album that will gratify you to the fullest!
