Riverside’s new album “ID.Entity” combines elements of rock, metal, electronica, and ambient music to create a nice prog atmosphere. Maciej Meller, the new guitarist, brings a variety of new and exciting ideas to the band’s sound, which should be noted. The same can be said for the amazing synth work. Moreover, Mariusz Duda gives some of his best vocal and bass performances.
Indeed, the new album features many progy elements, but the overall sound is more melodious… Some may refer to it as pop, but to each their own, I guess. As a result, you’ll hear prog rock, 80s electro-pop, as well as prog metal. Personally, I like the 80s throwbacks on their music.
The seven tracks cover topics such as technology, corruption, modern political themes, big industries, racial issues, gender standards, among others. The lyrics may be strange and challenging to comprehend, but if you simply focus on the music, everything will be fine.
“ID.Entity” is a sophisticated and ambitious work that will please the band’s fans and all those who fancy prog rock/metal music in general. It’s not their finest work, but it’s also not their worst. I suppose this album has the potential to attract new listeners.
