Streetlight is a brand-new band from Sweden that was formed in 2021 by guitarist Erik Tilling and singer Johannes Häger. After demoing a few songs to several labels, they end up signing with Frontiers Music. Erik had to leave the band shortly after, due to a lack of availability to dedicate himself fully to the group. Therefore, the present line-up consists of vocalist and guitarist Johannes Häger, guitarist Filip Stenlund, keyboardist John Svensson, drummer Erik Nilsson, and bassist Johan Tjernström. Apart from being the primary songwriter, Johannes also recorded and produced the debut album “Ignition”.

Musically, Streetlight can be described as an AOR / Melodic Rock band that draws inspiration from the 80s and from bands such as Journey, Toto, Survivor, and others. However, it’s worth noting that on a couple of songs, they have a more rocking sound that doesn’t seem to suit them as well. The production is clear, polished, and powerful in general. The overall sound of the album feels both nostalgic and contemporary.

“Hit the Ground”, “Stay”, “Overjoyed”, and “Words for Mending Hearts” stand out as the album’s most captivating and enjoyable tracks, showcasing Streetlight’s real potential. “Ignition” is a really strong debut album from a promising new band. Of course, they have a long way to go, but the future appears bright if they continue in this way…
