“Resurrection” is the third studio album from the Swedish group, Wildness, which features a stable lineup consisting of Erik Forsberg on lead vocals, Erik Modin on drums, Marcus Sjösund on bass, and Adam Holmström and Pontus Sköld on guitars. Additionally, the album features guest appearances from Danny Rexon (Crazy Lixx), Hank Erix (Houston), Ludvig Turner (Reach), and Dani Hart.
It is evident from the first note that Wildness has a good sense of nice hooks. The band blends AOR with Melodic Rock and hard rock to create a melodic yet powerful sound. The album is full of memorable, catchy, and well-written songs with anthemic choruses and electrifying guitar solos. I guess the band has crafted a more personal sound with solid rhythms, strong vocals, and beautiful melodies after 2 albums. The album was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by the band founder and principal songwriter Erik Modin. The production is full and tight.
I do think that “Nightmare”, “Release the Beast”, “Tragedy”, “Love Resurrection”, “Best of Me”, “The One and Only”, “Fading Sun” and “Eternity Will Never Fall” are the top tracks on the album. It’s obvious that the guys know how to utilize a balance between emotion and catchy melodies.
Wildness has the potential to grow bigger and this album proves that they are ready to compete in the premier league. Closing, “Resurrection” is an exciting and enjoyable album that should appeal to fans of AOR, Melodic Rock and Hard Rock music at large.
