Our Fates Lie in Tandem also marks Currents’ Rise Records debut. “The legacy of Rise is unmatched”, the band says. “The impact of their work has been felt by all of us for as long as we’ve loved music. We’re so excited to work with them on this new era of our band”.
The band previewed the 11-song release with “Retributioner”, which offers a first look at the album’s thematic and sonic range, examining the cost of holding on to one’s principles in a world that rewards those who abandon them. Revolver included the track in their Best New Songs Right Now feature, saying the four-plus-minute song features “darkly anthemic hooks and boulder-crushing breakdowns”. Knotfest said the album and single mark “a pivotal new chapter for the genre veterans”, adding that the song “asserts the band’s refined take on the genre with a track that shifts from expansive to explosive”.
Chris Wiseman, Currents’ guitarist and a driving force behind the production of the band’s previous full-length albums, produced “Our Fates Lie in Tandem”, with additional production by Ricky Armellino and mixing by Jon Dolese (Chelsea Grin, Cane Hill).
