Hailing from Pittsburgh, Sweat is a new Swiss-American quartet, led by the mesmerizing vocals and organ skills of Sue Pedrazzi, along with Richard Stanley (Rich the Band) on guitars, Dan Hernandez (Limousine Beach, Cruces) on bass and Kayla Schureman (Century III) on drums.
The band blends several music styles like pop-rock, folk-rock, and classic rock under a healthy dose of 70s flair. With influences ranging from Heart to Jefferson Starship, Deep Purple to The Moody Blues, Quarterflash to Jefferson Airplane, Sweat brings a refreshing energy to the table, offering a nostalgic and vintage sound in general. The production is organic and clean, which gives a vintage flavor to the final outcome.
Sweat immediately draws you in with songs such as “Convenient Bird”, “Jane”, “Ice Cream Man”, “Paradise”, “Dark Horses (White Lies)”, “Running Around” and “My Side of the Mountain”. The band transports listeners to a bygone era while infusing their music with their own unique twist. The album’s wonderful harmonies and great musicianship showcase the band’s passion and creativity. I had to double-check the album’s release date to be sure it wasn’t a late 1970s release!
Hence, whether you’re a fan of classic rock or simply appreciate finely 70s crafted music with amazing female vocals, “Who Do They Think They Are?” is an album you should check out. Sweat has firmly established themselves as a band to watch, and “Who Do They Think They Are?” is a promising start to their musical journey. Wish ‘em luck…
