Temperance never failed to impress me as they managed to put up another incredible show and lit the whole room on fire. So much love was shown from their fans!
But let’s start from the beginning. In the opening act of the night, we have another Italian band, the Symphonic Death metal, Carved.
It was the year 2007 when Carved started their journey full of hard work and emotions. After three death-oriented full-length albums, intense live promotion and playing support shows to bands like Amon Amarth, Moonspell and more across Europe, was now the time for a new chapter. With a new female singer, Laura Ginevra, and a new orchestral director and composer, Carved are ready to carve its new path. They are currently working hard on their new album, which will be a concentration of pure epicness.
Needless to say, that singer Cristian Guzzon’s voice blends perfectly with the delicate yet strong voice of Laura giving a more captivating sound to their music! Roaring drums and epic guitar reefs are other aspects that make Carved a great band to watch live.
Just a little over ten min after their set, we now have on stage an all-female Rock Metal band Hellcats from Slovenia. The band was formed in 2003 in Ljubljana by sisters Sasha and Sonja Zagorc, who started performing together in their childhood while still at music school. They then decided to form a band but due to the small size of Slovenia’s music space, it was not easy to find more female musicians. Fast forward to the summer of 2012 when the quartet was chosen among more than 400 groups and performed at the biggest music festival Jelen Demofest in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and they achieved 4th place. In 2013 they released their debut album “Divja” in Slovenian and in 2014 the English version “Warrior Princess” was released during their Italian tour. After that their career became higher and higher and they are in the process of recording their new album.
Sara Levic might be petite, but I assure you that she shakes the entire room with her voice. Hellcats’ talent goes beyond words showing everyone that women can slap it hard as much as men do! They are not afraid to show how incredible they are, and they are ready to take back their power!
With almost no time to rest, we now welcome on stage LA Rock Band, Edge Of Paradise. The band was formed by Margarita Monet and Dave Bates in 2011. With US, Europe and Japan tours under their belts, they are ready to transport fans to a new dimension of sound and visually stunning shows. Margarita’s stage presence is mesmerizing, almost hypnotic and her voice comes in and leads the way for the band to start hammering it down.
Atmospheric sound and sublet guitar melody turn them into a heavy groove riff that makes everyone in the room headbanging alongside Margarita. Their chorus is catchy, and I notice the people in the first rows singing their lungs out. There are a lot of melodies and heavy grooves, but the vocals command the songs and lead them in an incredible direction.
The time now for Temperance!!! The exceptionally skilled Italian outfit has showcased once again their extraordinary ability to merge brilliant vocal melodies, power metal guitar riffs and symphonic sounds in perfect harmony. As we have seen before only a few bands have succeeded in utilizing the full force of three vocalists, and Temperance are one of them.
Michele and Alessia perform a perfectly synchronized duet, bringing their unique sounds into natural harmony, all blending in with Marco’s vocals. Alessia looks at us photographers moments before getting on stage and asks us “are you ready to party?”… and oh boy yes we are!
Playing famous tracks like “Breaking the Rule of Heavy Metal”, “Diamanti”, “Pure Life Unfolds” and “Litany of the Northern Lights”, they have the whole room at their command. Powerful lyrics that are matched by power-metal level riffs alongside crushing drums.
“Diamanti” is one of my favourite tracks and it’s a chance to showcase the unique harmony of Alessia, Michele and Marco in their native tongue and they execute it beautifully; letting the chorus flow from your ears and making you think that you’ve been speaking Italian for years.
After the 13 songs setlist is finished, you are left wanting for more, so the only thing that I can advise to do is that you keep an eye on the Temperance’s website as they will have plenty more dates to come, not only in the UK and hoping to see them live again soon!
